Jennifer Garner is the latest celebrity to spill the tea in Vogue’s Beauty Secrets, including why she doesn’t attend Anna Wintour’s A-List bash, the Met Gala. Her absence isn’t due to a lack of invite though, as she dishes all to Vogue. It’s not only her beauty secrets she’s spilling.
The Hollywood actress has only attended the prestigious event once, in 2007, when she was married to Ben Affleck. However, surprisingly, he wasn’t her date, as she went with another man instead. We’re sure no one would have turned her down in her timeless red dress. Still iconic, to this day.

Jennifer Garner reveals why she only attended the Met Gala once
In the video, the 51-year-old actress, who is “super into skincare” gave fans a tutorial of her routine, as well as what makeup products she uses.
As she sprayed on her perfume, the actress revealed that she’s only been to the Met Gala “one time”. But why, you may ask.
Well, she actually admitted that she found it “a little scary,” and therefore hasn’t been back since.
However, it seems like the mom of three’s time wasn’t all bad, as she reminisced about her “magical red Valentino gown.” Not only did she wear his gown, she was also Valentino’s date, which she called “majestic and special”.
It’s not the only time the 13 Going on 30 star has reminisced on the big event. Before the 2018 event, which she did not attend, she took to Instagram to post a few throwbacks from the night.
In the caption, Garner penned: “You will never appreciate using the bathroom alone until you’ve been sewn into a dress— Met Gala 2007.”

Jennifer Garner was married to Ben Affleck during Met Gala appearance
Although she had another date to the event, in the form of Valentino Garavani, at the time of her first, and only Met Gala appearance, Garner had been married to Ben Affleck for two years.
The couple tied the knot in 2005, five years after meeting on the set of the iconic movie, Pearl Harbor. In the same year, they welcomed their first child, Violet Anne.
Their second daughter, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, was born in 2009, followed by their son, Samuel Garner in 2012.
However, it wasn’t meant to be, as days after their tenth wedding anniversary, the couple announced they were getting a divorce.
“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding,” they said in a joint statement.
