15 New York Fashion Week Spring 2024 Street Style Outfits Worn by Editors

September 2024 · 10 minute read

On a regular day, my favorite part of going to the office is seeing other Bazaar editors’ outfits. The feeling only gets stronger during New York Fashion Week. Watching models stomp down the runway and meeting designers backstage comes with a sense of occasion that demands our very best outfits, even with an abbreviated calendar and sweltering temperatures this week in Manhattan. From Ralph Lauren’s highly anticipated return to the calendar and Peter Do’s first collection as creative director of Helmut Lang, to the wave of exciting new talents like Grace Ling and Buci, the spring/summer 2024 season is a moment worth getting dressed for.

In the spirit of starting Fashion Week strong, I asked Bazaar editors to share the work outfits they’re wearing to take in the spring 2024 collections. We’re all about heightening our senses of style with dramatic dresses, holy-grail heels and flats, and a dash of tailoring—and we’re not letting a heat wave get in the way of looking good. After all, being well dressed is our collective job, and what is Fashion Week but a shiny, high-octane day at the office?

The Touch of Tailoring Outfit

“Throughout the week I’ll be wearing some of my favorite floral colorful pieces from Marina Moscone, Khaite, and Tory Burch, with some tailored separates sprinkled in. Tailoring for the most part usually goes back to my typical uniform, and although it’s after Labor Day, I’m not ready to give up on white trousers just yet! I’ll be wearing these to shows with Attersee’s charcoal vest. It’s the perfect pairing that especially works well with this weather. As per usual, I’ll finish the look with my Jenny Bird gold hoops, some form of strappy black sandal, and an easy-to-carry-around bag—my Toteme bucket goes with everything.” —Jaclyn Alexandra Cohen, senior fashion and accessories editor

The Statement Dress Outfit

“I’ve let imagined peer pressure from street-style influence how I dress a little too much at past Fashion Weeks. Not this season! Instead, I’m relying on a formula I know makes me feel my best on normal days at the office and throughout a marathon day of runways, designer meetings, and tight deadlines. The outfit goes like this: a polished midi dress with a structured bodice (like Tove’s) or zesty mixed prints (like Rixo’s), a ballerina flat or a wedge sandal, and a smart crossbody bag.” —Halie LeSavage, fashion commerce editor

“While I’ll definitely be wearing lots of my favorite vintage pieces this season—’90s-era Voyage, Prada, Miu Miu—I’ve also been lusting over the silver Wales Bonner Glide slipper. I’m not usually a flats girlie, but I am obsessed with these, and with the idea of wearing them with my new Tory Burch tunic over a classic Calvin boot-cut jean while running around to shows.” —Brooke Bobb, fashion news director

“This week will be unseasonably hot, so I’ll be relying on this fluttery ivory set from Danielle Guizio to help me stay (and look) cool. Its plain white canvas offers an opportunity to experiment with statement footwear, like these gorgeous amber Lucite wedge sandals by SimonMiller. Weather permitting, I’d prefer to layer with some structured, architectural outerwear—and this denim Scanlan Theodore jacket with ballooning ‘cocoon’ sleeves would certainly get the job done.” —Chelsey Sanchez, associate editor

“I have been swooning over rich jewel tones and gold-foil floral motifs since the Dries Van Noten Fall/Winter ’23 collection debuted last spring. The romantic silhouettes’ mix of lithe chiffon sheaths with brocade coats inspired me to begin weaving florals in my day-to-day wardrobe. I found a Vince floral skirt in a beautiful emerald hue that I can’t wait to wear. I love the idea of offsetting its whimsical pattern with a neutral, and this Anine Bing mock-neck top does just that. Working in accessories, I find myself ogling over gorgeous shoes all the time, but I keep coming back to these Le Monde Beryl ballet flats, helmed in a luxurious gold satin I can’t help but adore. They’re the perfect companion for a ladylike ensemble, with the comfort required for running around the city!” —Jennifer Jenkins, assistant accessories editor

“As always, comfort during NYFW is key. I think I’ll keep it casual-chic this season with some closet staples: a simple tank and my Loewe jeans. I love being hands-free, so a crossbody bag is a must for me.” —Alicia Banilivy, fashion and retail credits editor

“Early September in New York usually still feels like August, so I like to make sure I have at least one Fashion Week outfit that would work in a heat wave. Mara Hoffman’s Monte pants are light, baggy, and very cute, especially paired with a vest. (Mine is from Alex Mill, but seems to be sold out everywhere in black; you could try this, too.) To keep things from skewing too Annie Hall, I’ll be adding a simple pair of black sandals. I love these Turkish guys, which I found in a boutique in my neighborhood, but Emme Parsons’ Susan sandals are also great.”–Izzy Grinspan, digital deputy editor

“I love the idea of a simple dress you can throw on for running around, and I recently added a puff-sleeve one—with ruffle details that look like a dainty harness—by Simone Rocha to my NYFW wardrobe rotation. I love to layer, but given the current heat wave in New York, the only thing I’m planning on styling on top of the dress is an embellished tulle bodysuit I scored on the RealReal, also by Simone Rocha. It’s not much additional fabric, but it’ll add some dimension to give the look the frothy femininity she’s known for. For shoes, I’m wary of New York’s Tabi swiper, so I’ll err on the side of caution with a pair of Margiela’s round-toe ballet flats that still have a funky curve but don’t quite look like the hooves all of the city’s least eligible bachelors are after.” —Tara Gonzalez, senior fashion editor

The LBD Outfit

“Another day, another all-black look for me! I do love a monochrome outfit with a little edge in every piece, and one I’m excited to wear for an especially busy day of shows and after-parties includes a fabulous black slipdress from Fleur du Mal, ballet flats with a low square heel from Yuni Buffa (I also have them in beige, and they’re one of my biggest obsessions), a spacious clutch, statement Cult Gaia earrings, and skinny sunglasses—because I just can’t not.” —Rosa Sanchez, senior news editor

“With fashion month dawning on us, I immediately thought of this dress by Chador for seamless transitions from daytime shows to cocktails and dinners at night. Comfortable flats are essential to keep up with a packed schedule, and these sandals from Dior keep me cute while on the go. And because every outfit needs a touch of the Row, I love their half-moon bag to keep it classic while having enough room to carry my fashion invites, any makeup for inevitable touch-ups, and even a portable phone charger.” —Alex Delifer, executive assistant

The New Americana Outfit

“On a recent trip to Japan, I was struck by the street-style spin on Americana—especially the mix of workwear, western, skate culture, and rockabilly style. It inspired me to think about adding some of these touches into my wardrobe, but in a more dressed-up way, like with this Officine Générale suit. Every piece here can work together and speak to this idea of the new Americana, from the classic checkerboard skater pattern in this Brandon bag, to the Jacques Marie Mage bolo western tie, to the classic vintage watch (so as not to be late to shows) and finally the tapestry mix of the Sacai x Carhartt jacket. In the end, I can add these touches to my already existing wardrobe for a new Fashion Week look.” —Miguel Enamorado, accessories director

“I’m pretending this end-of-summer heat wave isn’t happening when it comes to my Fashion Week looks. I’m currently obsessed with ever-so-slightly off the shoulder tops like this sleek knit number from Meghan Markle–approved brand Bleusalt. I’d pair it with a pleated maxi skirt from Aussie label Dissh and would opt for chunky Vagabond moto boots for comfort while running from show to show, or this creamy kitten-heel pair from Matisse.” —Bianca Betancourt, culture editor

The Almost Autumn Outfit

“Although I’m in the autumn dressing mindset, the 90-degree heat in New York says otherwise. For a look that falls somewhere in the middle, I’m pairing this cargo skirt with an oversize brown blazer and my favorite classic tank from Henne, so I can easily transition from the blasting AC to the outdoor humidity. My favorite styling trick at the moment is throwing a sweater over my shoulders to add depth to a look, and this stripped one from Khaite adds the perfect nautical touch. While I live for a great heel, flats seem more practical for hopping from show to show, so I’m extending the deployment of the gladiator sandals I wore on repeat this past summer.” —Katie Intner, associate beauty editor

“Once it cools down toward the end of Fashion Week, I’ll wear a cashmere sweater-dress that keeps me warm and comfortable all day, indoors and out. I like to wear it with black ballet flats and soft socks, to be cozy from head to toe.” —Nicole Tripodis, assistant market editor

“With so much going on during fashion month, I like to keep my looks fairly simple—which is why nine times out of 10, you’ll catch me running around the streets of New York in a breezy dress like this one from Proenza Schouler. I always crave the one-and-done method of dressing during this buzzy time of year, which allows me to look effortlessly stylish without getting too preoccupied about my outfit. Since I’m a beauty girl at heart, wearing a dress also gives me more time to focus on blending out my concealer, or swatching a new eye shadow shade. And to top off my no-brainer fashion look? These neutral, foot-friendly heeled sandals from Jacquemus that go with everything (which I’ve been living in all summer).” —Tiffany Dodson, associate beauty commerce editor
