Shannen Doherty has bravely opened up about how she’s preparing for ‘the end of her life’ amid her Stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis by selling her belongings.
The star, known for her roles in iconic TV shows including Beverly Hills, 90210 was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, announcing she was in remission two years later. Devastatingly, she announced the disease had returned in 2020. Three years later, she announced the cancer had spread to her brain and bones. Now, the 52-year-old is ‘preparing for the worst,’ clearing out and selling her belongings to make things that little bit easier for her mother.

Shannen Doherty is selling her belongings to make an ‘easier transition’ for her mother
The star bravely got candid about clearing out her possessions, to make an ‘easier transition’ for her mother, Rosa, should the worst happen.
“My priority at the moment is my mom,” the actress said on the latest episode of her Lets Be Clear podcast. “I know it’s going to be hard on her if I pass away before her.”
Due to knowing how hard it’s going to be on her mother, the 90210 alum is taking action to make things ‘a lot easier for her.’
“I don’t want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with. I don’t want her to have four storage units filled with furniture,” she said. She’s starting to go through her belongings to donate or sell items she’s collected over the years, “just in case”.
The star then recalled how she was packing up one of her places in Tennessee, which she once dreamt of turning into a sanctuary for herself, her mother, and horses in need.
The celebrity added: “It was really hard and really emotional because, to a certain extent — I felt like I was giving up on this dream.”
However, she stated she could still live her “dream of helping horses… I can still live that dream by really participating in rescues that are far more capable of me doing it.”
Although emotional, the Charmed star said she’s realized that her belongings don’t bring as much happiness as making memories with her family and friends.
“It allows me to take more trips because I’m making money, I’m selling it. Then I get to build different memories and I build memories with the people that I love,” she explained.
The star ‘admires Kate Middleton’s strength’ amid cancer diagnosis

At the end of March, Kate Middleton announced she had been diagnosed with cancer, after weeks of social media speculation on her whereabouts.
Shortly after the Princess of Wales’ announcement, Shannen took to her Instagram to praise the mom of three, and ‘slam’ those who spread conspiracy theories.
“Being a public figure does not mean the public owns that person,” Doherty began. “We ALL have the right to go through illness or life privately.”
“The onslaught of conspiracy theories, ownership, and plain, morbid curiosity forced this person to explain herself before she had come to terms with it and explained it to her children. I pray this is a learning moment for us all to respect the privacy of others, regardless of being in the public eye.”
Concluding the message, the star wrote: “And Princess Kate, I admire your strength through the endless onslaught you’ve been under while going through cancer.”
